Local church feeds families

The day was a powerful reminder of kindness and community, showing what can be achieved if people work together for a good cause.

Willow Hill Church brought hope, food, and smiles to families in the township behind Oakfield Wedding Venue on Saturday, November 22. The church, located on the venue’s grounds, organised a special outreach event to help those in need.

Church members and volunteers gathered at the church at 08:30 to start packing the non-perishable food parcels that were going to be handed out to the families. The children helped the elders pack where they could, and food like rice, canned goods, potatoes, and other essentials were carefully packed.

The volunteers went into the township to distribute the packed food, and residents eagerly awaited their arrival at the designated community meeting point. At their arrival, the volunteers prayed for the community members and offered those who had never dedicated their lives to Christ an opportunity to do so. Soon after that, the parcels were distributed according to the registered list of the families living in the area.

It wasn’t only the elders who received something from the church, as the children got packs with treats that brought smiles to their faces. The parcels were well received by the members of the community, and it was clear to see that they brought some kind of relief and joy for the families. Brian Franz of the church said that it was amazing to see the community come together to help others.
“Every parcel, every smile, and every moment shared made a difference.”

The outreach forms part of the church’s ongoing mission to support communities surrounding it, and through this act of care and generosity, they hope to inspire others, showing that efforts can make a big difference in people’s lives, no matter how small they are.
