Roodepoort Child Welfare calls for community help to make foster children’s Christmas unforgettable
Donate toys, snacks, decorations or funds for the Christmas party set to take place on December 13.
Do you know how you can make a difference to foster and vulnerable children this Christmas?
Roodepoort Child Welfare is inviting the community to join a special Christmas party for children in foster care, and they need your help to make the day unforgettable.
Roodepoort Child Welfare is a non-profit organisation which has been in operation since 1930. The organisation renders services that are classified in the category of the care and protection of children and care and support programmes for families.
Their services include child protection, foster care, Children’s Court proceedings and community programmes.
The celebration will take place at their premises at 45 Du Toit Street, Discovery, on Saturday, December 13, and they are accepting donations of toys, snacks, decorations, or monetary contributions to bring smiles to little ones this season.
According to managing director and chief social worker Lerato Songo, the Christmas party is one of the organisation’s events of the year, aimed at creating memories that extend beyond the trauma and hardships these children have endured.
“We want to give them a day filled with joy, laughter and hope,” Songo said. “Every gift, no matter how small, helps us show these children that they are cared for and not forgotten.”
The event will feature games, a festive meal and lively music and performances by Dazzling Kidz SA. Those wishing to contribute can drop off items at the Roodepoort Child Welfare office or visit their Facebook page.
