Grade 3 learner from Weltevreden shines at G20 Summit

Panorama Primary’s own Loeto-Lentle Sello shone brightly as she greeted presidents and dignitaries at the airport arriving for the G20 Summit.

Not many learners get the chance to experience meeting international delegates at such a young age, but for Panorama Primary’s Grade Three learner Loeto-Lentle “Lulu” Sello, it was possible.

Being one of the few learners who were selected as a flower girl for the G20 Summit, a rare honour that saw her welcome international presidents. Lulu, a bright and very kind soul, had the remarkable privilege of greeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Alongside the Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, she presented the president’s wife with a beautiful bouquet of native Proteas.

Speaking to the Roodepoort Northsider, Lulu described her experience as fun, although she was nervous at first.

“I went to the OR Tambo International Airport with my parents, who made sure that I was calm and wished me good luck,” she says.

Lulu also had the delight of meeting the Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, adding yet another memorable chapter to what has truly become an unforgettable experience for her. Her teacher, Tarryn Evans, tells the Northsider that Lulu brings light to her classroom with her smile, which made her a perfect candidate to be a flower girl for such high-class individuals.

“She is such a well-mannered girl, and I am so proud of her. I hope that she gets the chance to have similar opportunities in future,” Tarryn says.
