Join the Lions Big Walk for young warriors

This walk hosted by the Wilro Park Lions Club aims to support children suffering from childhood cancer.

Do you know how you can support children battling cancer? By joining the Lions Big Walk for young warriors set to take place on Saturday, February 14.

The 8km walk is hosted by the Wilro Park Lions Club and is supported by other clubs representing Zone 1, including Clearwater, Helderkruin, Roodepoort Cyber, Krugersdorp, Lenasia, Northcliff, Ruimsig, and Weltevereden Park.

According to Sandy van Heerden, the president of Wilro Lions, this walk aims to raise awareness and support for children suffering from childhood cancer.

“The walk will start and end at our club, and all proceeds made will go directly to the Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa. We are inviting community members to join us to raise awareness, support or walk for a cause, and have great fun.

“Bring your family, friends, and your walking shoes,” said Sandy.

The Lions Club is the world’s largest service club organisation, made up of volunteers who serve their communities locally and globally, with a motto of ‘We Serve’, focusing on humanitarian needs like vision care, hunger relief, environmental projects, and youth development.

The entry fee is R20, and the event starts at 09:00.
