Foundation alleviates period poverty in young girls
Connectedor donates sanitary towels at Greenvale college
The Connectedor Foundation, run by Dora Rapai, donated sanitary towels to young girls at Greenvale College, promoting menstrual health and hygiene.
The event, held on February 20, was also supported by several organisations, including Midrand Montessori High, Women of Purpose, Nureena, Jill, and the We Lead Africa Organisation.
The We Lead Africa Organisation took the opportunity to engage with learners, offering valuable mentorship, guidance, and life skills training, covering topics like first aid and fire starting.
Their inclusive approach addressed both male and female learners, fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding.

Dora highlighted the importance of switching to reusable sanitary pads, citing their cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness.
“I think in the long run it’s better to use reusable sanitary pads, as most sanitary pads contain plastics, which aren’t biodegradable. Disposable pads also have a lot of chemicals in them, which are not good for our endocrine system and the whole female anatomy in general,” she said.

The initiative was well-received, and Connectedor hopes to inspire more organisations to join the cause, promoting a healthier, more sustainable future for young girls.
