Law enforcement rally to recover stolen vehicle in minutes

A co-ordinated and quick response from the law enforcement teams led to the car being found in a short space of time.

A stolen vehicle was recovered within minutes after a rapid response from the local community safety network on February 27.

According to an incident report shared by the Honeydew CPF’s public relations officer, Michael Steyn, the team received an alert on the Honeydew Emergency group about a Kia Picanto that had been stolen at about 15:57.

The responders used tracking technology to determine the latest direction in which the car travelled and then immediately shared the information with other members on the ground. A search into the nearby areas then started. The stolen car was found abandoned on the side of the road in Radiokop within 10 minutes.

EC Security was first on the scene, with support from MGN Security, Bhekani Abantu Security Services, and members of the CPF. The 6th Sense Security control room also assisted by relaying information during the response. The scene was then handed over to the police to continue with the investigation.

Unfortunately, the thief could not be arrested as he managed to escape after a passerby reportedly told the response teams that they saw a man jump into another vehicle shortly before the stolen car was recovered.
