Curro Wilgeheuwel crowns their Mr and Ms 2026

The event highlighted the importance of creating opportunities that build self-esteem and broaden horizons for learners.

Learners, teachers and parents gathered in excitement as Curro Wilgeheuwel High School hosted its highly anticipated Mr and Miss 2026 pageant, celebrating confidence, talent and school spirit.

The annual event featured contestants from various grades competing for the titles of Mr Wilgeheuwel and Miss Wilgeheuwel. The evening was filled with energy as participants walked the stage, showcasing their style, personality and charisma in front of a lively audience.

According to Wilgies’ head of campus culture and event organiser, Trudy Fredericks, learners were also allowed to design their own outfits using recyclable materials.

Contestants competed in several segments, including formal wear, creative wear, casual wear and a question-and-answer round. These categories allowed judges to assess not only appearance but also confidence, communication skills and overall stage presence.

Trudy highlighted that the event is about more than just a pageant. It allows learners to build self-confidence, develop public-speaking skills and express their individuality. The competition also encourages teamwork and school pride among participants and supporters.

Azola Siqithi was awarded Best Designer of the Year, while Tshego Hatang and Nozipho Mabodla were crowned Mr and Miss Wilgies 2026.

Parents and fellow learners attended the event to support the contestants, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the evening. Applause and cheers filled the venue as each participant took to the stage, reflecting the strong sense of community within the school.
