Young tennis titan in the making
Beninu demonstrates his remarkable talent at the TSA Junior Nationals.
Trinityhouse Little Falls tennis star Beninu Strydom has hit an ace as an upcoming junior provincial player after competing in the Tennis South Africa (TSA) Junior Nationals in Bloemfontein.
Beninu shares with the Roodepoort Northsider that in individual sports, it is your responsibility to make your efforts count. He adds that this is the reason why he chose tennis as his main sport because he knows that he can work on himself individually and not have to depend on another team member since he is the one doing the work for himself.
“The first round, I unfortunately lost because I still had to gain momentum and get my head into the game, but luckily, as the second round came, I started playing better. I qualified in the backdraw and played my heart out to continue competing and earn further points or rankings. The atmosphere was incredible, and in that final round of the backdraw, I told myself that I had to bring my A-game for these last few minutes and enjoy this experience. I placed 39th out of 64 players, which is a big win for me, and I can go back to the court and come back stronger,” he said.
As the young player ventures into competing in more tournaments, his eyes are set on one day representing his country internationally.
