Love and Friendship shine at Agape’s Valentine’s celebration
Learners celebrated Valentines Day by reflecting on the values of their school.
Agape Christian School was filled with joy and laughter on February 13 as learners came together to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
The school grounds were transformed into a lively picnic scene as learners arrived with beautifully prepared picnic baskets to share with friends. Blankets were spread out, sweet treats were unpacked, and the air buzzed with excitement. Music played in the background while learners sang along and enjoyed dancing together, making the day both festive and memorable.
According to Agape receptionist Maggie Dyer, the significance of this initiative was to celebrate God’s love and model kindness, friendship and inclusion among the learners. Inspired by the example of Jesus Christ, they encouraged learners to show love through respect, compassion and selflessness.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the much-anticipated Valentine’s Day basket competition. Learners showcased their creativity and effort through thoughtfully decorated baskets, each reflecting the theme of the day in unique ways. The school introduces three categories for the competition, namely, Elegant Valentine’s Day Baskets and Funkiest Valentine’s Day Baskets.
In the Elegant Valentine’s Day Baskets category, Gideon Kruger and twins Rozario and Joelle Yebo-Mensah took top honours, marking an impressive third consecutive win for the talented trio. Their beautifully arranged baskets once again stood out for their style and attention to detail.
The Funkiest Valentine’s Day Baskets award went to Abigail Oliver and Amayah Tucker, whose vibrant and playful designs captured the hearts of judges and classmates alike.

Each winner received a cash prize, giving them the opportunity to spend, save, or use their reward as they choose.
“While the festivities were filled with fun, the heart of the celebration remained rooted in the school’s Christian values. As a Christian school, Agape used the occasion to reflect on God’s love and the importance of friendship,” said Maggie.
“Learners were reminded that Valentine’s Day is not only about cards, chocolates, and gifts, but about recognising the greatest example of love ever shown, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ,” she added.
