Die Ruiter learner drives creativity to second place in art contest

Young artist Boipelo earns second place for her imaginative emergency response dream car design.

A talented artist from Laerskool Die Ruiter, Boipelo Lekaunyane, secured second place in the prestigious Toyota Dream Car Art Contest on June 5.

This competition invites children aged 15 and under to imagine and draw the future of mobility. Submissions are divided into three age categories, and entries are evaluated on artistic execution, concept uniqueness, and message.

Biopelo impressed the judges with her creativity, imagination and artistic skill as she drew a car that can fly and save people in her community, especially those who are in need during emergencies.

Explaining the inspiration behind her award-winning drawing, Boipelo said she designed a futuristic emergency response vehicle equipped with helicopter wings, a solar panel and a hose pipe.

“The car is very fast, and the whole idea was for it to respond quickly to emergencies such as fires, vehicle crashes and other accidents,” she explained.

Boipelo said she was overwhelmed with excitement when she learned that her artwork had earned second place in the competition.

Speaking to the Record, the Grade Six learner shared that drawing has always come naturally to her. She began exploring her artistic talent at the age of nine and has continued to develop her skills through dedication and practice.

As a reward for her achievement, Boipelo received a gaming console, making the experience even more memorable. The young artist said she is grateful for the recognition and hopes to continue pursuing her passion for art in the future.
