Who gave permission for these cables?

Lynda Hasert from Roodepoort writes:

Now that the school holidays are over, how many people have noticed that ugly cabling has been strung all along the streets and over crossings ?

Were you consulted? I was not. It is reminiscent of e-tolling. No-one knew until it happened.

If my neighbourhood and particularly the view from my property was about to change, I would like to know.

I do not wish to look at, on one side, three cables crossing the street. And surplus cables hanging down, in some cases from street lights instead of the wooden creosoted poles that are being erected.

Was planning permission obtained for this?

Who gave permission for this?

I do not want these cables and I wish them to be taken down.

A friend of mine who lives in Northwold was given a complete rundown on what was going to happen in her street, and who to consult with if she had any complaints.

Plus the cables were laid underground so, now, there is nothing unsightly to see.
