When is the billing crisis going to be sorted out?

Marilyn from Roodepoort writes:

Please can someone help me? I have received my utility bill for August and September and I have noticed that there is a network charge for electricity of R339,52 + 14 per cent VAT = R387,05 and a service fee of R114,57 + VAT = R130,61.

No one at the municipality can tell me what this is for. When I called I was read something by the agent and when I asked what does this mean they said they didn’t know.

Please can someone explain what this cost is for? This is R517,60 on my bill each month that no one can tell me what it’s for.

Every month my electricity is credited and then re-debited, and I don’t know what is happening as we have a smart meter, which should be relaying this information back to the municipality.

I am getting predetermination notices for something I don’t understand. Other people don’t have this on their account.

I have sent an email and received an acknowledgement, but when you follow up, no one knows about it.

I am waiting for the open days but in the meantime I am back and forth.
