I am still alive and I want a job

Ms J Wilkins from Witpoortjie writes:

It is not only women over 60 who are being rejected when applying for jobs.

Those of us that have just reached 50 are also being thrown aside. Corporates cannot merely ignore our wealth of experience and skills and knowledge. It’s to their detriment. Young graduates can never ever add the value that we can at that exact moment in time. I agree wholeheartedly regarding that pathetic excuse “You are over-qualified.”

Like you, I too am looking for career fulfillment and not simply career progression, where we job-hop to get more money. I want to wake up daily knowing how much value I add, whereas for many youngsters it is often a schlep. To all those recruitment agencies in Gauteng – I am still alive and want a job.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
