We need better councillors

John West from Weltevreden Park writes:

I can sympathise with Malyssa and the others in Ward 97 whose city councillor is letting them down.

David Brand in Ward 126 has been aware of similar ongoing sewage problems in Weltevreden Park since November, but has so far done absolutely nothing about them. He keeps promising to refer the problem to Jhb Water, but I have seen no indication that he has actually done so.

Seems our councillors have an official policy to keep sending clean-up crews to (eventually) clean up each potentially lethal leak, rather than fixing the problems permanently by addressing problems in the sewer system.

Surely we deserve better service from our municipality? Perhaps we need better councillors to make it happen, before our kids are hospitalised because of the sewage still lying next to the play park in Noupit Avenue.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
