Fransman to Celtic confirmed

Bloemfontein club seals the deal with Supersport United defender.

It has been confirmed that Bloemfontein Celtic have secured the transfer of former Bafana Bafana centre back Bevan Fransman from SuperSport United.

The move will see Fransman and Celtic coach Ernst Middendorp re-united after the pair worked together at Kaizer Chiefs in the 2005/2006 season.

Fransman, who has played for Mother City, Kaizer Chiefs, Moroka Swallows, SuperSport, Excelsior Mouscron (Belgium), Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel (both Israel), penned a two-year deal at Celtic.

Fransman is expected to replace the hole left by another Cape Town born defender in Clayton Daniels, who has moved the other way to SuperSport United.

Understandably, Fransman had grown disillusioned at a lack of regular game-time under coach Cavin Johnson at SuperSport towards the end of last season.

Of his move, Fransman says: “I am excited about the move, Celtic is a great club with unbelievable supporters and I look forward to helping the team continue building on their recent success.”
