Wrestlers entertain at festival

Top-class action at festival

Visitors to the NG Church Witpoortjie’s annual festival were thoroughly entertained by the wrestlers from the Honour Wrestling Association (HWA) recently.

The festival was hosted at Laerskool Dr Havinga and the wrestlers had the fans on their feet cheering, even though some jeers could also be heard.

The day’s activities started off with a match up between Griffen and Hector Payne, which looked to be a comfortable win for Griffen, until Cyclone appeared out of nowhere – resulting in a victory for Hector Payne.

The next match, between Harlequinn and Mr Money was a controversial one, as Harlequinn managed to snatch a victory, but only because the referee did not see him using the ropes.

A match that had the fans on their feet was the three-way match between Steve Eden, Dirty Jackson and The Ripper. The Ripper tried to get the upper hand by spitting a red substance into Dirty Jackson’s face, allowing Steve Eden to walk away with victory.

The main event for the day saw the legendary Boerseun take on the Dark One, also known as The Crow.

Boerseun looked set to walk away as the victor as he was in control of the match until Hector Payne, Harlequinn, Dirty Jackson and The Ripper came to The Crow’s aid.

Luckily Boerseun also received assistance in the form of Steve Eden, Mr Money and Griffen, who rushed to the ring and offered their support.

Boerseun then challenged the villains to a tag match, which was accepted – much to the fans’ delight. The wrestlers gave it their all, but the star of the show was definitely Boerseun – who choke-slammed the villains one by one, eliminating them until only one remained.

To end the day on a perfect note, Boerseun choke-slammed The Crow, managed to pin him, and walk away victorious.
