Champions Pro Wrestling eyeing strong finish to 2020
A total of four belts are up for grabs, including the Heavyweight Championship, Commonwealth Championship and All Africa Championship.
Sport and entertainment go together like fireworks and celebrations. Emerging from the smoke machine and pyrotechnics of 2020 is Champions Pro Wrestling (CPW).
Since 1997, the CPW wrestlers have been delivering their adrenaline-fuelled performances around South Africa and the African continent. Once the mainstay of SABC’s Thunderstrike, the promotion has been hard at work growing their audience via Bay TV’s rebranding to Mpuma Kapa TV. “This year has been tough for all of us. While we weren’t able to train, there was a lot of work going on behind the scenes,” said CPW’s The Loudmouth.

Having successfully filmed three shows for their platform under the banner ‘Champions of War’, CPW is looking to build on the legacy created by wrestlers like Akilah, Venus, Blacksmith, Tornado and Ananzi. “We will keep the tradition of the longest running and most trusted professional wrestling brand on the African continent,” assured The Loudmouth.
A total of four belts are up for grabs, including the Heavyweight Championship, Commonwealth Championship and All Africa Championship. Mr Wrestling, Ananzi and The Loudmouth himself hold those three belts, respectively. The fourth is the Performance Championship division which brings together the promotion’s highflying acrobatic daredevils.

CPW’s wrestlers have not performed live since the Randfontein Show in February, but have one show scheduled in Port Elizabeth at the end of October, and have their sights set on a Roodepoort date in November. The Loudmouth encouraged people to tune in to Mpuma Kapa TV, saying, “You can catch us Wednesdays at 9pm as we excite and delight the wrestling fans on the African continent”.
