The Cradle BMX Club held one of their two-part races called the Cradle Classic Series on Sunday, 25 October at the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve in the Cradle of Humankind.

All riders, bikes and abilities were welcome on the day, with races in the novice and expert classes, as well as in a special class for beginners being held at the venue.

The track opened at 8am to conclude all the formalities that included registration, payments and day board collection before the racing got under way.

The race format was three motos and a final, with organisers indicating that the prize-giving would only take place after part two of this event, which will be the finale on 15 November at the Cradle BMX Club.

The riders took on the meandering and well-constructed course equipped with their compulsory full-face helmets, gloves and long sleeves to ensure their safety.

“Your safety is important to us and no rider will be allowed on the track without the required safety gear.

“All Covid-19 protocols are in place and must be adhered to. Riders must wear a mask when taking off their helmets and all spectators must wear a mask at all times while keeping their distance,” said Chairman of the Cradle BMX Club, Fleetwood Tapson.
