Talented riders show off their skills at Curro Wilgeheuwel
The cyclist that completed the most laps in the allotted time was declared the winner of that race.
Saturday, 24 October saw a bunch of talented riders from Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel Independent School and the community showcasing their cycling skills on a pre-defined and marked course at the school premises.
The school hosted their first MyRyde event and invited all current and prospective Cycle2Ride members to join in on the fun.
MyRyde was open to all ages, and races took the form of a mass start and laps around a pre-defined and marked course over multiple terrains.
The cyclist that completed the most laps in the allotted time was declared the winner of that race.
All participants entered online at www.myryde.life and created a profile on the website.
The 20 minutes U/10 race kicked off at 7am with costs for Cycle2Ride members being R50 and non-Cycle2Ride member charged R60.
This race was followed by the Junior/Novice Race with a duration of 30 minutes starting at 8am – an hour later than the first race.
The Social and Racing Race starting at 9am and 10am was the most competitive of the day as it drew more crowds and cheering.
Cycle2Ride is an initiative joined by Curro that aims to promote cycling as a means of family cohesion, relaxation, fun, and a possible career choice for those truly interested in becoming professional athletes.
