Weltevreden Park Tennis Club doubles up the action

Weltevreden Park Tennis Club has been running their doubles championship throughout November.

The singles gauntlet has been run and now it is time for the more collaborative tag-team format. Even though the pressure and responsibility are shared, it does not blunt the ever competitive edge.

Weltevreden Park Tennis Club has been running their doubles championship throughout November. Using a ‘spider’ format, which gives every doubles pair an opportunity to suffer one defeat, the bracket has progressed to the business end of the competition. Sixteen pairings have been whittled down to six, with the usual suspects eyeing the championship title.

Two teams remain unbeaten, with Yusuf Coovadia and Nazier Mohammed meeting glamour pair Juan de Beer and Kyle Jackman for an automatic spot in the final. A loss for either would leave them fighting the rest of the bracket in a series of sudden-death eliminators for a shot at redemption. Dark horses remaining in the comeback bracket are brotherly combo of Alroy and Everitt Foster as well as duo Justin Roberts and Stephane Duponsel.

The finalists will be decided on Saturday, 21 November with the final scheduled for Saturday, 28 November. The club mixes an abundance of comradery and spirit with exemplary ability on the court, providing a perfect atmosphere for an enjoyable workout.

The public are encouraged to come by to sample the mood and possibly find their 2021 fitness home.
