Roodepoort West FC suspends football activities

“With the coronavirus numbers increasing rapidly in the province, some of our players have contracted the virus."

Roodepoort West FC competing in the Mini Fridays Masters League have suspended all their football activities due to a Codiv-19 related reasons.

According to the club’s spokesperson, Vusumzi Kula, some of the team’s players have contracted the virus and it would be careless for the team to continue playing.

“With the coronavirus numbers increasing rapidly in the province, some of our players have contracted the virus.

“As such the team has decided to suspend all football activities and close our home ground at the South West Gauteng College FET in order to protect our brothers and sisters, including our family members.

“The football pitch at the college is now closed with immediate effect. We will continue to observe the situation until it is safe for us to open the grounds, or safe for us to play football again,” said Kula.

Roodepoort West FC played their last match against Legends at Davidsonville Stadium on Friday, June 18 and were scheduled to play City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) on Friday, June 25.
