Roodepoort West draw against Legends

Legends remain on top of the Masters League while Roodepoort continue to improve and challenge for a better position high in the standings.

Friday, June 18 saw struggling Roodepoort West clash with log leaders Legends at Davidsonville Stadium in a tightly contested encounter that saw the two rivals share the spoils.

As expected, Legends were quick off the mark as they capitalised on a defensive error from the home side to make the score one up in the first five minutes.

Legends were determined to put the match beyond reach as they quickly followed up with another goal through their lengthy and agile marksman who made no mistake in making chances count.

Roodepoort West quickly rectified their mistakes and cut off their opponents’ effective supply and started dishing out their own remedy with Lebona Mako and Khathutshelo Munyama combining well with striker, Mandla Sibanda.

The hosts’ efforts were rewarded after applying pressure on the Legends defence that was caught in sixes and sevens, allowing Sibanda to pull one back for his team just before the end of the first stanza.

The second half kicked off with both sides playing high-pressure and entertaining football; however, the visitors were caught napping when substitute Ayanda Dlamini put the ball in the back of the net with his first touch.

The new signing provided a different dimension in Roodepoort’s attack with his pace and ball control that made him a menace in the Legends defence.

Both sides stuck it out and scored one goal apiece to see the score being tied at 3–3 at the final whistle.
