Florida Park Tennis Club ushering in new era with Ultimate Tennis Academy
String of events and competitions lined up to create a positive atmosphere at the club.
A new year brings a fresh injection of energy and passion to drive the game forward.
As part of their commitment to rebuilding local tennis from the ground up, Florida Park Tennis Club (FPTC) held a juniors training day on January 15. The two-hour Saturday morning session was an opportunity for the club’s new coaching partners to put the young aces through their post-festive season paces. With separate groups for children of all ages, players were meshed together to sample different styles and skill levels.
Florida Park has taken Ultimate Tennis Academy (UTA) on board as their new custodians of youth talent. Founded in mid-2020 by Lara Visnenza, UTA has grown exponentially, adding experienced coach Juan de Beer, while also providing a starting point for budding coaches at the club. “There is great potential here to bring tennis to the community, to get kids participating in the game and to enjoy the social and health benefits that come with it,” said Lara.
The new addition brings renewed vigour to the club’s goals of providing a welcoming environment for tennis enthusiasts both competitive and social. Visitors are welcome to sample the facilities, with upcoming junior tournaments, beginners programmes, senior club championships and social events all lined up to lure tennis players in indefinitely. All cycles begin and end but the goal to grow the game is permanent.
