Six karate students kick their way at the nationals
CFMA members made their mark at the national karate championships.
Six Colin Fairweather Martial Arts (CFMA) karate members dominated the Seiwakai National Championships that took place in Johannesburg in June.
The club is led by chief instructor and sensei Colin Fairweather, and newly welcomed members are trained by him. CFMA has trained hundreds of children and adults for over eight years.
“I am very proud of their achievements, hard work, and dedication because it shows that they are a competent team and have the will to reach a higher stage in the world of karate,” Colin said.
All the students who entered the tournament achieved places in the top four, with six students receiving medals for first to third place in their division.
The six members and their results are:
• Kate Broodryk – second place
• Tylan Sanpal – third place
• Tehillah Hersig – first place
• Pule Chaphi – first place
• Kgosi Tumahole – second place
• Alison Bos – third place
Colin has a fifth Dan black belt registered in Japan and has been training and teaching for over 30 years. CMFA has a development programme where they offer free training to previously disadvantaged children and teens every Saturday morning.
