Parkrun celebrates their biggest milestone
The Rumsig parkrun celebrated its 200th milestone for their consistency in being a positive and active hub for community members.
The air was oozing with excitement and eager locals waiting to engage in their weekly parkrun on Saturday, July 20.
The Ruimsig parkrun celebrated its 200th milestone of consecutive Saturday morning parkruns. To mark this significant milestone, the parkrun planned a special celebration which included all the volunteers who assisted, the car guards who made sure the vehicles were safe, and locals who indulged in food and refreshments.

Since its introduction, the parkrun has grown into a vibrant community of walkers, joggers, and runners, promoting physical fitness and making new memories. The event not only celebrated the longevity of the parkrun but also celebrated the amazing volunteers and car guards who help one another to keep the area safe and motivate community members to keep coming back.

Parkrun director Nadine Crouch told the Roodepoort Northsider that this celebration is the perfect way to show how involved the community is.

“Since we started the parkrun, we have seen so much growth because this is a safe place where you don’t feel pressured, and you can enjoy the parkrun at your own pace.
“I wanted to express my gratitude to all of the volunteers who have helped us, as well as the car guards. A big thank you to everyone,” Nadine says.
