Seniors strike a chord with trophy win
Fleurhof Senior Citizens Choir wins top honours at Johannesburg competition.
The gogos and mkhulus of Fleurhof Senior Citizen Choir recently made their mark with their impressive victory at the Johannesburg Elderly People Choir Competition, held in October in Tshwane.
Formed just six months ago, this talented group of golden oldies took home the top trophy, capping off an incredible journey of hard work and determination.
According to choir member Zozo Nkutha, they participated in choral verses and traditional music. She says they honed their skills through regular practice and participation in local competitions.
“We are over the moon!” Zozo exclaims. “We topped all regions in the City of Johannesburg and we are thrilled to have made our community proud,” she says.
But the Fleurhof Senior Citizen Choir is more than just a singing group. They’re a vibrant community that prioritises fitness, friendship and fun. Members meet twice a week for gym sessions, followed by a social club where they bond over shared interests. They also host festive events throughout the year, bringing joy to their loved ones and community.
This inspiring group of seniors prove that age is just a number. Their trophy win is a testament to their spirit, dedication, and passion for music.
