Young cricket star earns third cap

All eyes will be on her as she gears up for the Geo-Political Tournament.

Leeya Singh, a rising star in South African cricket, has once again demonstrated her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

Leeya was capped for the Central Gauteng Lions Girls Cricket Team at a prestigious ceremony held at the iconic DP World Wanderers Stadium on November 7. This marks her third cap since she began representing Gauteng Lions at the age of 11.

The capping ceremony was a momentous occasion, further highlighted by the presence of South African fast-bowling sensation Kagiso Rabada. Rabada, who addressed the young cricketers as a surprise guest speaker, shared words of encouragement and inspired the team with insights from his illustrious international career.

Leeya’s selection to the U13 Girls Gauteng Lions Cricket Team is a testament to her relentless hard work, hours of practice, and undeniable passion for the game.

Her upcoming challenge will be representing the team at the Provincial Cricket Festival in Benoni from November 30 to December 3.

This milestone is not just a personal victory for Leeya but also a proud moment for her family and community, who have supported her journey from the beginning.
