Orlando Pirates player receives brand new set of wheels

This comes after winning the 2024 Sports Personality of the Year award at the Gauteng Sports Awards.

Relebohile Mofokeng, Orlando Pirates mid-fielder and Gauteng Sports Personality of the Year winner, received a brand new car on February 11 presented by the Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, Matome Chiloane.

Mofokeng was presented the car at the Bidvest Mc Carthy Volkswagen in Westgate after being named the 2024 Sports Personality of the Year at the 13th edition of the Gauteng Sports Awards, where he was nominated alongside notable athletes – Akani Simbine, UFC champion Dricus du Plessis, Tatjana Smith and Bafana Bafana’s Ronwen Williams.

While presenting the car to the 20-year-old, Chiloane shared a few words in recognition of the young star’s exceptional talent, which has captured the admiration of football supporters.

“Your talent, hard work, dedication, and humility have brought you to this moment. This sends an important message to many young people in Gauteng and across the country. It also reflects how much the public values you, having voted for you ahead of some big names in sports – especially at the beginning of your professional career. You have earned this recognition through your effort and commitment; you deserve it and must enjoy it,” he said

Mofokeng has quickly risen through the ranks to become a key player for the Soweto giants. Known for his versatility, high work rate, and strong defensive contributions, he has established himself as a fan favourite at Orlando Pirates.
