Sables’ U30 ladies sweep clean at nationals

Three Sables District women bring home a gold, silver and bronze medal.

Four women from the Sables district recently participated in the National U30 Ladies Master Tournament in Pretoria.

The Discovery Bowling Club’s Thabelo Muvhango and Devin de Jongh, alongside Leila Snyman and Charlene van Staden from the Krugersdorp Bowling Club, made a strong statement in this competition, demonstrating that the sport is thriving in the Sables district.

Competing against the country’s top talent, these talented women showcased their skills in the competitive section. Thabelo, Leila and Devin delivered impressive performances, earning their spots in the finals. Charlene also demonstrated consistent play, narrowly missing out on a spot in the finals.

The finals were a masterclass in bowling, with Leila emerging victorious. She secured the gold medal with a 21–15 win against a fellow Sables player. Devin also impressed, claiming a well-deserved bronze medal.

“All of us in the district are very proud of these ladies and their achievements. It has been a long time since the Sables won gold, silver, and bronze in a national tournament,” said Sables president Brian Oxley.
