Ruiter Wrestlers sweep clean at competition
The team brought home five gold, three silver and one bronze medal.
Ruiter Wrestlers recently made a remarkable impression at the North West Open competition held in Pretoria, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication.
Competing against fierce opponents, the team of wrestlers brought home a whopping five gold medals, three silver, and one bronze, solidifying the club’s reputation as one of the top wrestling institutions in the country.

According to the head coach of the club, Dean van Zyl, this was an interprovincial competition that prepared the wrestlers for a national competition set to take place later in the year.
“We are very proud of the wrestlers who took part in this competition. At Ruiter, we don’t just teach kids how to wrestle – we teach them discipline, respect, and valuable life skills that extend far beyond the mat. Wrestling builds confidence, mental toughness, and resilience, making it one of the best sports for children and adults alike,” said Dean, beaming with pride.
Special recognition goes to the following wrestlers for their outstanding performances: Jessica Eagar, Teagan van den Berg, Ryan van Tonder, Thai Todkill, Enzo Schoch, Dihan Viljoen, Nicolas Geldenhuys, Ewan Stander, Marno Stander, Henru van Zyl and Eric Neethling.
