He is set to compete in solo Latin dance at the World Artistic Dance Federation Championships in Poland.
Jumah Mohammed, South Africa’s undefeated solo ballroom dance champion, is set to make his mark on the global stage once again as he prepares for his debut in solo Latin dancing at the 2025 World Artistic Dance Federation (WADF) Championships taking place in Warsaw, Poland, this weekend (April 11–12).

“It’s truly an honour to once again represent South Africa on the international stage. Every time I carry our flag abroad, I do so with immense pride, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility.
“This journey is more than just about competition – it’s about showing the world what’s possible through passion, perseverance, and purpose. I’m especially excited that this year, I’m venturing into Solo Latin for the very first time at a world championship level.
“It’s a personal milestone and a proud moment for South Africa too, as we continue pioneering the art of solo dancing globally. Knowing that I’m not just dancing for myself, but for every aspiring dancer back home, makes every step even more meaningful,” he said.
Jumah’s dance journey began at local social events where he was captivated and inspired by a uniquely South African form of jazz dancing.

He, therefore, started teaching himself without any formal training and discovered ballroom and Latin dance in 2011. Since then, he has transformed from a novice into a decorated champion, earning national recognition and respect in the dance community.
In 2023, he represented SA at the World Championships in Latin dancing, earning him Protea colours, and in 2024, he was crowned All-Africa Champion and European Champion and secured a commendable third place in the world in solo ballroom.
“I’m stepping into something new and bold – to show the world that even alone on the dance floor, we can move hearts, inspire minds, and represent a nation,” Jumah stated, reflecting on his upcoming competition.
Jumah is focusing on future competitions, such as the All Africa Championships, European Championships, and the WADF World Championships in 2026, as he prepares for the WADF championships. His ambition is not only to solidify his status as a dual champion but also to elevate South African dance on the global map.
He is also the founder and lead instructor at Saint Ballroom Dance Studio, with its main location at the Witpoortjie Community Centre and a second studio in Alberton at the Alberton Community Centre.
He teaches group and private sessions across Gauteng. For more information, contact him on 084 553 2937.
