Local fighter dominates Boxing for Change
His victory is an inspiration to those who look up to him and shows that hard work and determination can lead to success.
Kgaogelo Ntamo from 1 Tribe Boxing Club, has recently made a name for himself as he emerged victorious at the Boxing for A Change tournament that was held in Syringa Park recently.
For him, winning was a big achievement, as he put in long hours of training to prepare for his fights.
Kgaogelo’s plan to defeat his opponent was to use counter-attack as his strategy, which, according to him, turned out well.
“I was planning on working on his body more than the face,” he said. “I did land those body shots and a few upper cuts.”
Despite a tough start to the fight, Kgaogelo gained confidence after landing a solid jab.
“That’s when I knew I got this,” Kgaogelo explained with a confident smile. During the first round, his opponent took the lead, but Kgaogelo’s determination and skills paid off when he won.
Talking about the people who were there for him at the fight, Kgaogelo mentions that his coach, Don, gave him valuable support and guidance throughout the fight.
“He kept telling me how proud he was,” Kgaogelo said, touched by his coach’s encouragement. His family and friends were also among the crowd that kept him motivated and cheered him on.
“I could hear my mom and dad cheering, and my friend was shouting my name. I want to thank everyone who supported and believed in me,” Kgaogelo said.
Kgaogelo advises other boxers to have discipline and perseverance, even when faced with challenges.
“Don’t get discouraged by the weather and keep working so that you can get the results you want,” he said. “Work hard, stay dedicated, and listen to your coach,” he said as a message to young aspiring boxers.
As he celebrates this win with those closer to him, Kgaogelo awaits to hear about his next fights and continues to prepare and stay focused on upcoming tournaments.
