Runners test routes before big Clearwater race

Are you ready to put your running skills to the test? Don't miss out, register today.

As runners are preparing for the Clearwater Mall Race this Saturday, the Panorama Running Club took to the streets on Sunday, August 17, to test the routes that runners will be tackling on race day.

The race offers 5km and 10km distances, but this year, a 21km distance has been added to celebrate the mall’s 21st birthday.

The race promises to bring families together for a day of fun mixed with fitness and provide participants with a unique experience as they will be running through scenic routes while completing the race.

According to Gangatha Mkele, the chairperson of the club, this race is a special one, and runners need to prepare themselves well for the challenge.

“All we can say is get ready,” he said. The different distances offered by the race are designed to accommodate everyone, whether you’re an experienced runner or a first-timer.

There will also be rehydration points where runners can get their rehydration water or sports drinks to help them complete their course. Pacers will also be available at different points and distances of the race to assist those who need help during the race.

Organisers are encouraging runners to arrive early to soak in the excitement and get ready to test their endurance.

There are prizes to be won, and race T-shirts are available for sale at the price of R220.

Although online registrations are closed, those still interested can register in person at Clearwater Mall at entrance two, in front of Sheet Street, starting tomorrow, August 21, right up until race day.
