Local equestrians shine at Sanesa finals

They brought all their skills and talent, giving their best to the shows.

Three Trinityhouse Little Falls riders made their school proud with their recent performances at the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) Gauteng Regional Finals competition held at Eaton Farm in July.

Mikayla Walls, Jonathan van Dyk, and Dexter Andrews represented Gauteng West, and the trio showed off their skills and dedication, competing with their ponies.

Mikayla rode her pony Gummy-Berry to great results. She came in eighth in Equitation Level One, fifth in In-hand Utility Level One, and seventh place in Dressage Level Two Test A and B. She also came out in 14th position in Working Hunter Level One and ninth in Working Riding Level One.

Jonathan had a strong showing on his pony, Lila. He finished in fourth place in Working Riding Level Three and seventh in both In-hand Level Two and Prix Caprilli Level One. Jonathan also did well in Working Hunter Level One, coming out in position eight, and had two clear rounds in show jumping.

Dexter and his pony Lemonchello participated in show jumping, giving it their all even though they didn’t place. The riders’ commitment and practice paid off as they achieved great results.

Mikayla and Jonathan have been selected to represent the Gauteng team and will compete at the Sanesa Nationals in October. As they continue to prepare for future competitions, the two will not only represent the province at the nationals, but they will also represent their school.

The school congratulated the trio for their efforts and wished both Mikayla and Jonathan the best of luck for nationals.
