Discovery Bowling Club’s 5’s tournament knocks it off the field

The day saw bowlers from different clubs coming together for a great day on the greens.

The Discovery Bowling Club hosted its annual Fives tournament in August, bringing together bowlers from various clubs, including Discovery, Leases, Atlas, Linden, and Harlequins.

According to Di Anderson, treasurer at the club, this event has been a long-standing tradition for many years, with 12 teams competing in five pairs.

The tournament was filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie, with teams showcasing their skills and sportsmanship on the greens. The event also served as a fundraiser for the club, and Di praised the ‘good energy and vibes’ throughout the day.

The winning teams took home impressive cash prizes. Team Rory claimed first place with 108 points, winning R5 000. Team Ronnie secured second place with 106 points, taking home R3 750. Team Yvonne came third with 102.5 points, earning R2 750.

The event was a resounding success, highlighting the club’s commitment to promoting the sport and fostering a sense of community among its members.
