Young netball star makes provincial team

Her achievement continues to inspire other young people to pursue their sporting dreams.

Crawford International Ruimsig is celebrating a proud sporting moment as Grade 10 learner Unathi Ncube has been selected to represent Gauteng as part of the Western Wolves Gauteng U17 Indoor Netball Team for the 2026 Inter-Provincial Tournament season.

She was selected after an outstanding year on the court. In the U16B Super League held at Hillfox earlier this year, Unathi competed on behalf of her district. Her team put on a great show and won a silver medal. Coaches and selectors praised her for her perseverance, teamwork, and determination throughout the competition.

Unathi’s newest achievement places her among some of the province’s most promising young netball players. For the school, her accomplishment is a symbol of the value of hard work and commitment both in and outside the classroom.

“We are incredibly proud of Unathi’s dedication, talent, and passion for netball. This provincial selection is a well-deserved achievement, and we cannot wait to see her shine on an even bigger stage next year!” said the school’s client experience officer, Megan Birch.

Unathi’s journey shows what is possible when talent meets discipline, and her selection marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her netball career.
