Discovery Primary School hosts first interhouse athletics for 2026
The learners participated in various track and field events.
The atmosphere at Discovery Primary School was electric on Friday, January 23, as learners and staff gathered for the 2026 interhouse athletics competition.
The stadium echoed with cheers and team spirit as the four houses—Yellow for Da Gama, Green for Magellan, Red for Columbus, and Blue for Diaz – battled it out in a series of field events.

The learners showcased their athletic abilities in including long jump, high jump, long distance running, shot put, javelin, and discus.
The excitement was heightened by the impressive performances, with many learners surpassing their personal bests. Some even broke the school’s longstanding records, making the day memorable for all. The house moms were also on the sidelines, cheering them on with infectious energy .

The field events continued on Monday, January 26, allowing more learners the opportunity to compete and demonstrate their skills.

According to Principal Raymond Pieters, the interhouse athletics is not only about competition but also about selecting the best team to represent the school at the upcoming cluster meetings.

He also shared that the school’s swimming activities are currently underway and gaining momentum, promising more exciting sporting events ahead.
