Ruimsig Parkrun draws big crowd
For many participants, the course is more than just about running; it's a way for them to connect with other residents and celebrate each other.
A total of 401 people took part in the Ruimsig parkrun on Saturday, January 31, completing the 5km course at Ruimsig Stadium. The weekly event continues to attract participants of all ages and abilities from across the area.
From the early start, the atmosphere was lively, with families joining in alongside their children and some participants bringing their dogs.

Volunteers assisted with registration, guiding runners and scanning barcodes at the finish line to record times. Participants took part for various reasons, with experienced athletes aiming to improve their personal bests, while others joined to maintain their fitness through jogging or walking.
Many runners and walkers encouraged one another along the route, and several celebrated personal milestones as they crossed the finish line.

The friendly and supportive environment remains one of the main attractions of the Ruimsig parkrun.
Participation is free and open to everyone, whether first-time participants or regular runners. Registration can be completed online, and volunteers are always welcome to assist on the day.
