Ruimsig learner competes in international motorcycle championship

What started as a strong season nationally has opened international doors for the young motorcyclist.

Crawford International Ruimsig learner Oratilwe Phiri is currently competing in Malaysia, where he is representing South Africa in the TVS One Make Championship, part of the Asia Road Racing Championship.

According to his father, Thabiso Phiri, the young rider is participating in six rounds this season, with the opening round held this past weekend. His selection marks another significant milestone in his racing career as he competes against international riders on a global stage.

“We wish him every success as he competes on the international stage.”

Oratilwe’s international experience continues to grow. He has previously competed in several global events, including the TVS One Make Championship in Thailand and the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies selection in Spain last year.

Following a successful season in South Africa, where he won the SAES/ MRSSA SBK600 Championship at Kyalami International Raceway, he now takes on another international challenge. His 2025 season results reflected consistency and readiness for high-level competition.

He has also demonstrated resilience throughout his career, achieving strong results despite challenges such as wet-weather racing, crashes, and disrupted race weekends.

For this season, he is supported by sponsors, his family, his coach Steven Odendaal, and the Crawford International school community.

With a national title already secured, Oratilwe is now focused on gaining further international experience and continuing his development in motorcycle racing both locally and abroad.
