“Our dojo had 56 students competing,” says 7th Dan Sensei, Wendy Wannenburg.
“Of the 56, all but one qualified to represent Gauteng at the upcoming SA JKA National Championships to be held on May 15-16 in Johannesburg,” she adds.
“Our students won a total of 64 medals at the competition, among which 29 gold, 18 silver, and 17 bronze.

“In JKA, the tournament is not regarded as ‘sport’ but rather as a test of skill.
“Karate is so much more than a sport. It is intended to be a lifelong journey of seeking perfection, both in character and in physical skill.”
Sensei Wendy adds that karate really is for everyone whether they are young, old, male, female, or have special needs.
“We welcome new members to come and join us.”
