Trinityhouse hosts successful winter sports festival

The day celebrated sportsmanship, school pride, teamwork, and exciting and unforgettable moments.

Twenty schools came together for a day full of energy, talent and fun at the Trinityhouse Little Falls Winter Sports Festival.

The event, held on March 18, saw learners putting their athletic skills to the test as they participated in the various sports being played on the day.

Agri Zondi, the sports and arts co-ordinator at the school, said the event was an incredible show of faith, tenacity and teamwork. He added that having so many schools take part showed how much the festival has grown.

The festival included netball, sevens rugby, and boys’ and girls’ hockey. Agri said the best moments were the teamwork, the excitement from everyone there, and the strong support from the community.

“Watching our teams win their matches and seeing our marimba, rock band, and school spirit team leading chants made the day special,” he said.

Commenting on how events like this help learners build sportsmanship and teamwork, Agri added, “It is the start of the season, and it helps everyone prepare for the competitions ahead. It is one of the highlights of our sporting calendar.”

He said hosting the festival benefits the school by keeping learners competitive, encouraging parental and community support, and showing the wonderful things happening at the school.

The success of the day was attributed to coaches, staff, and supporters, who helped everything run smoothly and encouraged learners to do their best. Looking ahead, the school plans to grow the event, with plans to possibly include a chess festival next year.
