
Of 124 pupils who wrote their exams in 2013, 38 pupils achieved an average of more than 80 percent, while 55 achieved an average of more than 75 percent and 82 pupils achieved an average of more than 70 percent.
“Our pupils achieved the best overall results since the inception of the new curriculum in 2008,” said school spokesperson Toni Williams.
“St John’s College is proud of the excellent results achieved by our matriculants in the 2013 IEB Examinations. Congratulations to all our matric pupils.”
Roger Cameron, headmaster of St John’s College said he was delighted with the 2013 St John’s College matric pupils’ results and extended his congratulations to all pupils in South Africa who passed their matric exams.
Cameron also paid tribute to the professional and highly qualified staff of St John’s College.
“Under the guidance of housemasters, tutors and chaplains, our teachers aspire to not only teach but to instil discipline, integrity and honesty in the young men who attend St John’s College,” he said.
The school boasted 334 subject distinctions achieved by the pupils.
Nishal Dullabh came out tops as he received nine distinctions and an overall average of 88 percent.
Brett Staden trailed closely behind Dullabh with nine distinctions and an overall average of 87 percent.
