Lisa Kaplan, headmistress of Kingsmead said, “This reaffirms Kingsmead College as a leading academic independent school in South Africa.”
Obtaining the highest number of distinctions were Kerryn Malherbe and Olivia Radford.
The pupils achieved nine distinctions each and were ranked within the top five percent of all IEB candidates in six or more subjects.
Malherbe was ranked in the top one percent for accounting and physical science while Radford was ranked in the top one percent for English home language.
Malherbe achieved academic full colours three years in a row and full colours for music in Grade 12.
“This year’s Grade 12 pupils have become extremely close which is a part of the Kingsmead ethos. We have become a community,” said Malherbe.
She appears to be heading for a bright future as she has not only focused on her academics but has also given back to the community by teaching underprivileged children how to swim.
She added, “I want to be somewhere where I can make a difference, even if it’s to a small group of people”.
Malherbe, who is also a talented pianist, said the highlight of her school years was her involvement in the school’s music department and school orchestra.
Fellow pupil Fabienne Witts-Hewinson wasn’t too far behind the top two pupils as he obtained eight distinctions and was ranked in the top five percent of all IEB candidates in six or more subjects.
