The court case involving Nazeer Mohammed, a missing Johannesburg businessman, has once again been postponed, this time to 20 June.
The case of Robert Nembaka and Rotshidzwa Netshiavha, who were convicted in November for stealing Mohammed’s cellphone and Toyota Corolla and Opel Astra registered to Mohammed’s car dealership, has been postponed eight times already this year.
Mohammed was last seen at his car dealership on Jules Street in Jeppestown on 7 December 2012.

The two suspects were due to be sentenced in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 30 May on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and theft, but the case was moved to 20 June to allow social workers more time to file a social report for Netshiavha. Netshiavha and Nembaka had previously asked for more time to obtain a lawyer as their State lawyer withdrew.
Mohammed’s disappearance has left his parents struggling to make ends meet as he supported them financially. Shaieda Seepye, Mohammed’s mother, said the past four years have been difficult for them and all they want is closure. “My son was the breadwinner and was taking care of us. At that time, we did not even apply for pension and now we are forced to apply because we can’t make ends meet,” said the disheartened mother.

Seepye said they do not care about the theft charges as all they want as a family is to know what happened to their only son. “We are worried about our son more than anything else, we want to know what happened to him. We even told the accused men to tell us where he is, we can drop the case, we don’t care about the cars,” she said, adding that Mohammed was a very charitable man and donated a lot of money and time to those in need.
His father, Abie, is equally heartbroken and said all they want to know is where their son is as the whole situation is taking a toll on them as parents. “We are even prepared to drop the case. Just tell us where our son is,” Abie said.

Mohammed’s sister Zaheera said they were extremely disappointed in the way the case had been handled by the court. “The suspects were caught in possession of Nazeer’s two vehicles and cellphone on 10 January 2013. They were charged with theft. Three years later the case is still continuing.”
