Norwood Police Station commander, Colonel Anna Jojisa announced on 3 May at a public meeting held at the Norwood Primary School that the new Operational Command Centre (OCC) has finally been implemented and is now effective in their regional clusters.
The clusters includes Yeoville, Sandringham, Hillbrow, Norwood, Bramley, Cleveland and Jeppe police stations.
With the new OCC, Jojisa said they will have unique operations to target problematic crime hotspots but did not wish to divulge too many details.
“At first we used to analyse crime through what was being reported to the stations but with the OCC we will be able to deal with them in a more strategic way. We will have 15 relief members from each of our seven police stations taking turns to target the identified hotspots from time-to-time,” she said and further elaborated that they also welcome information from the community to ensure that they strengthen their fight against criminals.
Jojisa said she is proud of Norwood Police Station’s performance adding that the station is doing well in the fight against criminals. “My station is really not doing badly among the stations that we work with,” she said.
The station commander has urged the public to report their dissatisfaction to the police service, in writing. She said, “If you go to the station and you do not get the service you require, you need to report the officer, in writing. Check for the officer’s name on the badge and the exact time you were served so that it will be simple for us to investigate. Please put it in writing and make sure that you send your complaint to the station commander,” said Jojisa.
