ORANGE GROVE – Four armed men rob cashier of R1 000 cash at gunpoint

 

Norwood police have launched a manhunt after four armed robbers stormed into a café and takeaway shop in Orange Grove and took R1 000 from the till.

The incident took place on 13 July at a café situated along Louis Botha Avenue.

According to Norwood police spokesperson Captain Elliot Tshivhase, the four robbers entered the café, pointed a gun at a cashier and ordered the latter to hand over all the cash in the till.

“As he was threatened, the complainant gave them the money claiming it amounting to R1 000,” said Tshivhase. No shots were fired.

He said the suspects are unknown and the police have launched a manhunt. The suspects fled the scene but it is not known if they were on foot or had a getaway vehicle.

Tshivase confirmed that a case of armed robbery has been opened and anyone with information is requested to contact Norwood Police Station.
