Father hijacked while driving son to school

HIGHLANDS NORTH – Hijackers pull out guns and threaten to kill the father while he and his son were in the car.

A Highlands North father, whose name is known to the North Eastern Tribune, was allegedly hijacked by three suspects outside his house.

According to the Norwood Police Station spokesperson, Captain Elliot Tshivhase, the father was hijacked while taking his son to school on 2 August.

Tshivhase said the suspects threatened the father with firearms while his son sat in the back of the car.

It is reported that while he was reversing his light blue metallic Mazda 2 out of his property in 3rd Avenue, the suspects blocked his way. “While he was reversing his car, he noticed an unknown black car parking on the street. As he reversed further, the car approached and the three men jumped out, pointed a firearm at him and threatened to kill him,” said Tshivhase.

They pulled the father and son out of the car, and one of the hijackers got in and drove off.

The registration of the vehicle is BY67YNGP.

A case of hijacking has been opened. The suspects are at large and police have launched a manhunt.
