A 25-year-old man was arrested by the Hillbrow police for allegedly selling dagga in the streets of Johannesburg.
The suspect was arrested on 10 January during a police patrol on the corner of Van der Merwe and Banket streets.
According to the spokesperson for the Hillbrow Police Station, Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, the suspect was posing as an informal trader.

“Officers were busy with a routine stop and search [operation] when they approached the suspect who was pretending to be selling sweets and cigarettes,” said Zondo.
“The officers discovered a bag full of dagga and immediately arrested the suspect and took him to the Hillbrow police cells,”
He will face a charge of possession of dagga and is expected to appear at the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court soon, said Zondo.
In another incident, three men were also arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place in Braamfontein next to the Gauteng station.
The three suspects approached a stationary car at the intersection of Wolmarans and Rissik streets.

“They pointed a firearm at him, took his cellphone and then fled. As the victim drove away, he saw some police [officers] and [told them] of his ordeal. They drove back to the crime scene,” said Zondo.
The three suspects were still on the scene and when they saw the police arrive, they ran away, he added.
“The police gave chase and all three suspects were arrested. The cellphone was also recovered,” he said. The suspects will face a charge of armed robbery and will appear in court soon.
