Pridwin Prep brings art to life at their art auction

Pridwin Preparatory School transformed into a vibrant gallery as learners, teachers, and parents celebrated the When Art Comes to Life auction, highlighting the artistic talents and collaborative efforts of the Junior Prep boys.

The auditorium of Pridwin Preparatory School buzzed with excitement on Thursday, May 23, as the annual art auction took centre stage. Themed When Art Comes to Life, this year’s event showcased the immense talent and creativity of the learners and their teachers, who worked tirelessly to produce stunning artistic expressions.

Chairperson of the PPA Sarah Thabethe says, “It’s a beautiful community event for the junior parents and the junior community to bid on the art the children have spent time collaborating with different artists. The idea is to raise funds but to celebrate the arts that the teachers and learners have created.”

Art was the centrepiece of the night with its power to transcend boundaries and evoke emotions. As parents bid on the remarkable pieces, they were encouraged to immerse themselves in the stories and passion behind each artwork. The event highlighted the potential of these young artists, with hopes that some might follow in the footsteps of successful alumni like Jake Singer.

The funds raised will be allocated to a variety of projects, from a new Grade 0 classroom and the enclosure of the Grade 3 and Ed Tech corridor to new lockers, AstroTurf for the junior playground, and additional playground equipment. Every bid placed was a commitment to nurturing the learners and ensuring that Pridwin remains a premier boys’ prep school.
