Parktown High School for Girls cross country teams excel in early season races
The cross-country runners, from Parktown Girls, are off to a fantastic start this season, showcasing impressive performances in recent races.
For cross-country runners in Johannesburg, the first league race took place on April 11, and while many athletes were still feeling the effects of a tiring camp, the girls from Parktown High School for Girls proved their grit. Despite the challenging conditions, the teams displayed great determination, and while the official race results are still pending, it’s clear that Parktown’s runners were in strong form.

However, it was the Paarlauf Relay Race on April 14, at Bryanston High School, where the teams truly shone. The event, a relay-style race, saw the senior teams demonstrating exceptional team spirit and endurance.

The senior A team delivered an outstanding performance, securing first place and showcasing both speed and tactical prowess. Meanwhile, the senior B team was not far behind, clinching a well-deserved third place. The results reflected the dedication and hard work that have gone into the training sessions leading up to these races.
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Parktown High School for Girls’ cross-country runners as they continue to set the pace in the league. With this strong start, they are certainly a team to watch out for.
The next big event on the calendar is the upcoming regional cross-country championship, where the Parktown girls are expected to bring even more speed and determination to the course.
